Peckish - Lucocoa Chocolate
Our friends from WorkLife Films have included Lucocoa in their “PECKISH” short doc series, and we are in love with this video of us! 💜
Our Founder, Amarachi Clarke, had an opportunity to speak about her passion for chocolate and the importance of questioning the provenance of our favourite sweet treat.
Thank you, WorkLife Films, for including us in your series and for the beautiful video 🙌🏾
“We are going to have a chocolate revolution… But only when we start questioning people about the chocolate they’re eating.” - Amarachi Clarke 💃🏾 🙌🏾
I really mean this; it’s always been odd to me that we can walk into a restaurant and listen to the story behind the ingredients but then on the dessert menu you're served mystery chocolate... The two don't match.
This is across the board. How many times have you heard about the origins of coffee? Yet, when you order a mocha, it is served with mystery chocolate. Or that chocolate cake made with ‘The finest Belgium Chocolate’. What does that even mean? Well, I know but it’s not what you think!
We need to slow down on some of this and start joining dots and following the trail. You may not think it’s worth it, but chocolate is one of the most loved and eaten products in the UK, yet we have no idea what it's really about. We have an entitlement to have chocolate while the entitlement of a living income for farmers is overlooked.
Remember the question isn’t ‘Why is this bar so expensive’. The question is… ‘Why is chocolate so cheap…’ - Such wise, truthful and beautiful words from our Founder! 👏🏾
